Marquis 420 SC

this is a huge competitor in the 40-45 feet HT sports cruiser
market aiming mostly to the succesful Azimut 43 S, but also the new Fairline 44 Targa GT or Absolute 47
while I did not like much its lines in the first online pictures, it looks pretty good in this video

First, you've got to congratulate Carver for having the balls to go ahead with a completely different range of boats to their normal floating condo style. Yes, I agree that it looks really sleek on the water but I would criticise the interior design. Only one heads on a 42 footer is not enough especially on an IPS driven boat which should have more accomodation space. The other things I don't like are the fixed helm seat, the really low galley top and the folding patio doors which look a bit flimsy to me
But the critical point is how much does it cost? With the weak dollar, if it undercuts the European opposition by a significant margin, then it has a chance

folding patio doors look good IMO you see this idea on the old Couach Yachts and remembering I still wonder how its not copied so much
after ferrettis folding system IMO it is second best or close to a 3 part parition system to open the inside with the outside, the problem is with no flybridge ladder u still have a piece in the way on a HT with the Ferretti system

In the US market it's aimed at Cranchi, Sea Ray, Sunseeker, Tiara, and Viking (Princess). Azimut, Fairline, and Absolute sales are way too small here to constitute a market target. I'm not sure there is even a single Absolute in the US. Pity, wish we could afford more of the European boats.
