I’ve had this set up for 4 years now and have never got the MARPA to work. The instructions seem clear enough but I press my finger on the target and nothing happens. My 20 yr old Raymarine set up used to do MARPA easily.
Any ideas what I’m doing wring?
I‘m using Navionics by the way.

We have the same set up and it sounds as though you are do8ng the right thing. When I touch a target on the radar screen up pops a dialogue box giving the option to ‘acquire the target’ which it duly does if I touch that option. The only issue I have with it is my sausage fingers and sometimes very small targets!

On a separate note the autoroute function on our Axiom never seems to work - gets stuck on ‘calculating route.’

Thanks. Maybe it’s just that the targets are too small to be prodded accurately.
I don’t have autoroute but I’ve heard that it does take you too close to obstructions.
To be honest I never do more than “Go to”
Cheers

mmm I have no issues with auto route and being too close to obstructions. Quite the reverse. If the route gets too close to any hazard it fails to complete the auto route build until you review and remap around any hazrds and dont get confused. With Navionics the feature is called "dock to dock" and not auto route ..... at least on mine. Maybe that is where your issue lies?

We have Navionics and ‘autoroute’ was my inaccurate terminology. We have set our boat dimensions in the system so it should work things out - maybe it isn‘t up to the navigational challenges of the east coast! ?

Maybe not. In instances where there are sand beds exposed during LW it simply wont route no matter what. You have to manually build a route. I found the whole system very risk adverse tbh. For example it will refuse to auto route through any buoyed channel without throwing a wobbly and will not do the same through the menai strait. It sees the Swellies and decides going round the whole island is a much more sensible idea. As such many of these Dock to Dock routes are leg segments to a final destination.

That makes sense because we do have drying banks, shallow channels and the like. Interestingly it is only Navionics on the Axiom that has an issue - the app on my phone and iPad will usually do a route unless it involves a river stretch with a buoyed channel.
