marlow or liros rope

need a new halyard for a cruising boat any opinions on marlow or liros grade ropes. I like a nice soft and flexible rope.

If you can, support UK business, buy Marlow, if you can find it, most stock Liros now.

For a Halyard, whichever make you choose, its unlikely to be soft and flexibe, that sounds like sheets, they would have too much stretch.

Emglish Braids bought Marlow Ropes. I prefer English Braids as their pre-stretched polyester is easy to splice and soft to use. Been using them for over 10 years on my Vega and no problems.

I prefer Marlowbraid for halyards, but it's not a soft rope. Lower stretch than braid on braid, no more expensive, easier (for me) to splice. Against these pluses, I don't specially value softness or feel for a halyard.

Marlow publish rope stretch data somewhere on their web site.

Alladins Cave are doing good deals on Marlow rope at the moment. Choice between MarlowBraid or double braid. Double braid is cheaper but less strength.

and by the way: measure the length needed twice, and add a meter for safety. I learned that through experience.
