Hi guys,

Spent a pretty constructive day varnishing on saturday but it always galls to have to remove all that masking tape at the end of each session of boat work in the knowledge that if I don't it will be a nightmare to remove in the future. Is there any masking tape that I could leave in situ for a couple of weeks with out it becoming totally stuck?

Google Blue Masking Tape, good for a week possibly longer.

Screwfix do a blue masking tape gauranteed to last over 14 days and leave no residue. I've used it for the last 3 years with good results

The problem with leaving masking tape on for a long period is that when you eventually peel it away,it will lift the edge of your paint or varnish slightly ..this can allow water to get under the coating. You really should peel it off before the varnish or paint has dried, this will let the edge adhere to the surface without lifting.
Others will of course disagree.
