The windows in our cockpit tent have developed a reddy brown marking on the outside. It seems to be something deposited on the outside. Any ideas for something to clean it off. Soap doesn't work and though vinegar has some effect it requires so much rbbing I fear it will damage the windows.

Try some oxalic acid solution. It is a stronger acid than acetic acid and generally seems good for "brown stains".

Other wise try Cillit Bang "Grime and Lime"

Test either in a corner first

Plastic Polish

My spray hood is five years old and has been through some serious weather… and left fitted over winter, so I tried a little of that plastic polish which you use (if you care about your plastics) on your car headlights & light clusters, and they came up like new….. result! :)

If it seems to be a brown deposit it may be that you used some sort of proofing on the canvas bit and this has got onto the transparent bit.

So far the only solution I've found is a new window and a bit more care with the fabsil next time.
