It would be good to see them. Was, until recently, part owned by one of our club members. She is fabulous, I took some pictures of her sailing in the Fife regatta last summer.
Seeing her, an 8m and Kelpie in almost the same frame was awesome. The ex owner of Kelpie is a friend too, he had a Fife 8m after that. Kelpie is a Mylne design of course, but similar (smaller of course) in age and appearance. It would be good to see them.
Think she was restored at HYS some time ago. I worked with a chap who was temporary mate in the early 2000's. They offered him a permanent job but he had to turn it down because the pay wouldn't support a wife and tripletsI remember her sitting in the mud as a houseboat at Pin Mill for many years until taken away on barge for her eventual restoration. Great to see her back in fabulous condition
Some things are even more important than beautiful sailboats.Think she was restored at HYS some time ago. I worked with a chap who was temporary mate in the early 2000's. They offered him a permanent job but he had to turn it down because the pay wouldn't support a wife and triplets
I think the senior crew in a big Wm Fife are well paid now. But can be long spells away from familyThink she was restored at HYS some time ago. Good spot. They are often at the same eventsCould No. 8 be Moonbeam IV?
I'm pretty sure that's the yacht we once anchored with at Le Ecrehous off the western end of Jersey; they got their anchor stuck and a French naval helicopter arrived and dropped a diver in to clear it.
We had a fife regatta in the Solent this summer. These Wm Fife beauties now seem to berth permanently in the South of France, but occasionally venture back home for the Wm Fife regattas at Fairlie/ Largs every 4 years or so.
With a Fairlie regatta this year, that would explain sightings in Channel Islands and Solent en route
This was the main one they came for, where they were designed and built .... Welcome to the Richard Mille Fife Regatta - Fife RegattaWe had a fife regatta in the Solent this summer.
