Piewacket and Nito, Just thought I would add my experiences with owning our boat...
We brought our 1992 Sunseeker San Remo 35 in Sept 2018 and have loved every minute since owning her. We have had no issues of Osmossis and in fact I would say she is a very sturdy boat and very well built. Over the course of our ownership the only things we have replaced (less service items) were the Cooker Hob, the Seats, and the Toilet. These were all things that we changed because we wanted to improve them, not because they needed replacing. As you have already eluded to the Kad 42 engines are basic with lesser technology, which means you can service them yourselves, which I have been regularly doing thanks to various members on here giving hints and tips and having the servicing manuals freely available to download. The only jobs I have not attempted myself are the Outdrive servicing and the Re-adjustment of the tappets which is something others have talked about on here and when I get the time and courage will attempt. The boat has enough room to comfortably take out 2 couples for weekends away and for daytrips parties of 6-8 . For weekends away with two couples the rear cabin is small but does the job. Our friends who own a Jeannau Merry Fisher 875 came on board and commented on how well built everything was which is a good testament to a boat that was built in 1992, so regards build quality I think you should be happy with what you buy. The only Caveat with that is that when you do want to source unique parts such as San Remo35 Name badges, Hatch locks and Table Parts these will be hard to find as Sunseeker and there subsidary companies have either changed the parts for newer models or in some cases the companies have closed and changed names. That aside, with a little imagination you can overcome these issues and find other companies that can make custom parts should you need them.
Overall I would not describe the boat as a moneypit as since owning her we have not paid anything more than servicing or marina fees, less of course the items we ourselves wanted to change and if I'm honest some of our friends who have newer boats have spent far more time and money being sat dockside getting their boats repaired.
I'll include a picture of her on here so you can see for yourself.
Overall happy hunting getting the boat you want and if you have any other questions feel free to PM me.
