Mariner Outboard

I give in..........
The owner's manual is available for down load - look at the mariner / mercury web sites.

Spares?
Sparkplug - Lawnmower shop or Swindelery
Shear Pin - B&Q (1 metre of brass rod ~£2.49 and cut your own - should get 36 pins) or Swindelery (~£2.49 for 2)
Impellor - Jabsco shop or Swindelery
or you could go to somewhere that stocks and sells Mariner / Mercury outboards!

Hi i have been looking for a manual but could not find one, I have just ploughed through the Mercury site and cannot find enything of any real use in the way of a manual.

Any ideas

Well if you filled in your profile so we knew where you were instead of having to guess, and then put something simple like "Mariner Outboards" into Google so that you found a dealer like Bill Higham in a couple of minutes, then you wouldn't even need to ask.

And Manchester might be too far away, but "BrumNavy" doesn't help pinpoint you very well.

It's not just you. Loads of people ask questions that you'd have to be psychic to answer.

Brumnavy, Look at the way the other intelligent people use this board to ask questions and then you wouldn't look like such a prat.
Say where you are, be specific and you'll have a dozens of helpful and polite informative responses.

Visit the E P Barrus website and use the dealer locator to find dealers in areas that are convenient to you.

None in the West Midlands but Avon Boating in Stratford on Avon comes up for Warks

You could try Amazon for the Seloc Mariner Outboard Tune up and Repair Manual

[/ QUOTE ]Ooh, link has gone.....
Suggest you have a look around the marina / moorings and see if you can find someone with a merc/mariner 3.3 and talk nicely to them - see if they would let you borrow their manual to make a copy.

The manual supplied with the engine is only the user manual and really not much use. You can order the workshop manual from Mercury for around $80 if oyu think you need one but really the 3.3s are so simple to work on.

What exactly do you want to do to your outboard? perhaps some on here can give you step by step instructions?

I'm sure you will get a friendly response

Hi i have been looking for a manual but could not find one, I have just ploughed through the Mercury site and cannot find enything of any real use in the way of a manual.

The engine is in Greece so this is a bit of remote diagnosis, it is overheating but we think the water pump is ok and delivering water therefore that leaves the notion of a blockage in a gallery or waterway somewhere, hence my search for a manual and some knowhow.

Now you tell us the nature of the problem we can all pitch in with probably the same advice.
If the pee-hole flow is good but too hot, you are probably right. If the pee-hole flow is slow it's maybe the tube from the head to the pee-hole itself that is blocked and the engine may be cooling properly.
If the blockage is elsewhere and the motor has a thermostat it may be the thermostat that's failed either closed or half open. You can test that temporarily by removing it. (to check it put it in a pan of warm water and bring it to the boil to see if it opens). You can usually spot a thermostat housing.
Otherwise you are looking at blockages either in the head or passageway to the exhaust.
Vics has specific knowledge of certain makes and problems.
If you are going backwards and forwards with spares and trying to do the repairs on the hoof and getting nowhere, it may be better to think of replacing it. There are good deals on them at the moment.

I take on board that I did not say where I was from, but where the Hell does BrumNavy suggest I am from ?

As for being specific which bit of "Hi can you tell me where is the best place to get spares and a manual for a Mariner 3 3 outboard engine" do you not understand !

Go and crawl back under yer brick...............
