having just had my new to me boat transported home by road
i now find that the depth sounder no longer seems to work "it did prior to move" also the speed log also does not work they are both mariner analogue units. does anybody have experience of these as i have no manuals, are the transducers interchangeable with other makes of instruments, can i replace with nasa units putting new transducers into existing hull fittings. by the way i have checked that they are both receiving power from fusebox/switch pannel.
thanks in the hope that someone has had experiences with mariner instruments

The speed log can be checked by manually spinning the paddle. By blowing it around at high speed you can get over 10 knots. While spinning by finger will get a few knots readout.

Of course I am assuming the boat is out of the water. As for the depth sounder I don't know of a way to test these out of the water. You certainly wouldn't expect any operation in air.
Some transducers are interchangeable with other makes , sometimes not. good luck with the new boat Don't leave it home too long. Boats need water under them to be a real boat. olewill

Is this the very old Mariner kit with the huge speed dial and small car type odometer? If so I have the original owner info, very little in it though....
