Mariner 2hp upgrade

I have been given a Mariner 2 HP circa 1985 ish
It has never been used & runs spot on,as you would expect.
However somebody told me it could be uprated to 3HP just by changing the carb jetting.
Does any one know any more about this mod, if it exsists ?

probably not worth it!!ive upgraded two small o.b.s,merc/mariner hybrids,your problem may be easy,in that there may be a carb restrictor narrowing the diameter of the intake(like a flange ring),but the main problem may be the chassis..as far as i know,merc/mariner only pushed it to 2.2-not a worthwhile mod!! the next upgrade is to take a 4hp to 6 max,as all chassis are common&stronger!..if it works,keep it as is..and enjoy the portability!!
