Hello, new member here, I have a 2017 Mariner 15hp 4 stroke outboard, try as I might it will not fire, I have done the following:

Ensure no water in fuel.
Ensure no blockages in fuel line.
Fuel tank vent open.
Primer bulb is hard.
Remove fuel pump and check diaphram.
Ensure fuel filter not blocked.
Removed, stripped down and cleaned carb, float and needle all free and working correctly.
Empty carb drain plug, plenty of fuel.
Ensure starter motor and solonoid are working.
Ensure battery is good.
Replace ground and live leads.
Ensure kill switch is functional.
Ensure water pump is working.
Tested spark plugs with multimeter and reading 4800 ohms.
Tested ignition system with inline spark tester and it illuminates when cranking on both HT leads.

I can't think of anything else to try, any advise is much appreciated.

Many thanks
David

Carb main jet clear?
Do you actually get a spark if you take out the plugs, reattach leads, turn over with electrode grounded?

Compression? - unlikely to be an issue on a 2017 engine unless water got in or piston rings stuck for some other reason.
When did it last run ok?

The carb jet is defiantly fine, when the carb is removed and the bowl is full, if you manually operate the throttle I can see fuel being squirted out towards the inlet manifold.

I do not think it is a compression issue, the outboard has had no more than 30 hours use since I bought the engine brand new in April 2018.

It ran about a week ago for about one minute then died, and will not start again since, I am suspecting it may be an ignition coil failure.

UPDATE: It is the spark plugs, I took a spark plug out of my lawn mower, connected to HT lead, grounded against engine block and I can see a good spark, did the same with the NGK outboard plugs (both of them) and no spark, so I am picking up 2 new plugs at lunch time, this will hopefully fix my issue (in the end, so simple!)

She runs! Just needed new plugs, this is what happens when you don't test the basics...
