i have the above engine but cant read the spark plug lettering so was hoping that someone may know what plug they take and gap size as it started to misfire today and the plugs look very old and before i strip down carb or ignition it may be prudent to change the plugs firstx

Go to Bruswick Marine and get the manual which will specify the plug and the correct gap. Buy the plug and then set the gap correctly - they are not always right out of the box.

You'll probably need the serial number - 1992 doesn't seem to have a 15HP model. You can get the serial from a plate on the side of the leg usually.

We already know the serial number, I think 09685873

Yes BP8HS-15 are the correct plugs The 15 on the end indicates that they are supplied pre-gapped to 1.5mm.

If necessary you could buy any BP8HS plug and adjust the gap to 1.5mm

Also listed are the inductively suppressed version BPZ8HS-15 ... but they aint half expensive!

not been well lately and things dont register first time.
will get plugs from chandlers or motor factors in the morning.

used the engine on a high sided 12ft dory today and with doel fins it planes at 14 knts and wot is about 18knts which is remarkable for a cheap ebay engine but this one is very clean and looked after

just a little past sparkes at lowish tide but was bloomin wet and windy but wanted to try out the engine. would deliver full power but missed a bit so thats why i thought spark plugs and not carb.
