A winter project that I had in mind was to veneer a small folding table top ( 18x12 inches ) incorporating a marquetry theme like a compass rose or similar.

I thought I had seen something ( perhaps that 'Nauticalia' sales thing that comes with PBO?) can anyone help my search please?

I looked at doing some marine marquetry some time ago when I was getting lots of veneering done.

Kits generally supply the design and sheets of different colour veneers the time consuming part is cutting the shapes by hand. The best way is to laser cut all the shapes and then glue then to a base. I did find some made up panels but they tended to be for floor inserts not small tables tops.

Found this on google

Nice idea - I have wondered about a shell and compass rose for locker doors, just for fun (it's arguably a bit OTT for the boat!)

Mad Pad's first link does not work for me, but http://www.aryma.co.uk/ does (I see that they were formerly anita marketry, which I do recall).

I've used http://www.originalmarquetry.co.uk/ (as found by Rogershaw) for inlay banding and other items for repair work, but not for kits.
