Does anyone have any information or experience of Marine Power Quantum engines.
The information on the engine cover is
En Pac Quantum
Series VR1 premium
350n Marine Power
Would spares / maintenance be a problem?
The reason I am asking is we had a survey and sea trial carried out yesterday and I have never heard of these before, not that that in itself is any surprise as there are numerous terms in this game that I haven’t heard of.
The specification stated that the engine was a mercruiser, so we were surprised to see this different type.
The boat appeared to run well on trial and the surveyor and hired skipper seemed happy. The only problem encountered was starting. ie the starter motor would not initially turn the engine, we could hear solenoid closing but starter would only turn after about 10 attempts. Looking at another thread this may simply be a case of dodgy contacts in solenoid. The starter motor on this engine is located at the bottom of the engine and look awkward to change.
I have taken some photos so can upload if someone gives me some guidance, but any information on this engine is much appreciated. The boat is a 1989 sunray mirage 27ft lol imported 1996.
Thanks Steve
