Just about to start bulding a PBO Pub and after some materials. Does anyone know of a good supplier for marine ply and Douglas fir in the Cambridgeshire area? Ridgeons were very expensive and so far Robbins in Bristol (PBO Pup partners) seem to be the best deal and have a good reputation.

Has anyone built one of these boats and if so are they pleased with the design?

Cheers Keiron

Kieron,
Good builders timber yards stock a exterior grade ply- or even "marine" ply (probably not up to standard) and this is good enough for your purposes if you are planning to epoxy coat the pup inside and out, which I would recommend.

I have used Robbins plywood on a number of occasions, and have been very pleased with the result.
A couple of years back my daughter & I built a pair of canoes from Robbins Elite plywood. It may be more expensive than exterior grade ply, but it is far nicer to work with and much higher quality. Given the amount of work involved in making a dinghy I'd go for the marine ply...

Hi, I too am about to commence the PBO Pup, I bought the 'kit' thro' Robbins Timber, The laser cut sheets of ply arrived by carrier last week together with the appropriate douglas fir for the spars etc, all that is now required is to gather my courage and get on with it!!!! funnily enough I too live in the Cambridge area! spooky eh? perhaps we can compare notes?
