I usually deal with www.gaelforcemarine.co.uk orders arrive next day or two days max.

But I spotted an advert on this YBW site for Marine Mega Store unfortunately I have not had a very good service.

Offered 10% off first order but not given.
10 days no sign of order.

Telephone call to find out where it is to be fobbed off with we will phone you back

Still waiting /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Anyone else want to report good/bad service ?

Have I missed a thread advising they have gone bust and I have just made a donation to the Liquidators /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I placed several order with them ealer this year and had v.good service. Perhaps they are temporarily understaffed due to running a stand at the boat show.

Good point , I never thought of that, all their stock is probably at the show.
I will have to be patient I suppose.

It shouldn't be up to you to be patient, you must just have been unlucky...

With a wait like that though, I would expect more than 10% /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have ordered some things from them and had good service, but I collected them! They are simply a warehouse, so no marine-trained staff to talk to when I went in.

Hmmmmm

Will need to remember that one

"sorry Mr Nice important customer we are at an exhibition so cant send you any of our products"

Crap service if you ask me!!!!

I wouldnt dare say that to one of my customers, unless i didnt want to keep their business!

And they call themselves a "MEGA" store
not so mega if all the personnel are at a show

look for it elsewhere
then tell them to stick their crap service where the sun dont shine

well, it could be, sorry but we are going to make £0000's at the show, which might mean the 25p we will make on your order isnt our top business requirment.
well, they arent going to say that.
Reality is customer is king is long dead. I m not saying this applies to DAKA, but profitable custmers are king. Unprofitable customers should please go to our competitors.

so that little customer that you dont make too much money out of expands and you dont have him as a customer to gain the extra profit /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

i think i will stick to giving all customers a service, but a better one to those that are more profitable /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Agreed Doug,
The little customers pay the expenses and salaries, the big customers pay for the boat.

My order was for an Icom dsc VHF, they should be earning more than coppers on that.

I am anti boat show and getting more that way. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Causes traffic congestion making if harder for me to get to my boat.
Causes delays with my important boaty bits orders.
Increases pollution.

As to 'Mr Nice Important customer', I'm no longer nice I am more Mr angry, why doesn't the boating industry revolve around me, me,me ? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Perhaps Major Catastrophe was right and it is

Mr Saville Row 'and yes sir and would you like to take a look at these beauties' /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Mr M&S ' You may look, but please dont touch ' /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Mr George ' move along quickly so we can find some nice customers' /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Past performance is often an excellent guide to the future. From my outbox on 24 April this year:

>>>>
Please can you let me know when my order placed on 4 April will be delivered? I now need the part urgently to return my boat to the water and will have to order it elsewhere if you cannot provide it.

I have e-mailed you previously (on 11) but got no response and called last week but got a taped message and no reply. I notice that you subsequently charged my card on 15/4 but nothing has been delivered.

Not certain of the facts here but are they allowed to take money before despatching goods. thought there was some rule prohibiting that

I came to the conclusion it was impossible to get any sense out of the marine trade during a boat show a couple of years ago. I also had probs getting any sense out of Marine mega store. Receptionist very non committal and aloof. Someone did call me back 2 days later when I had already sourced what I wanted cheaper.

so that little customer that you dont make too much money out of expands and you dont have him as a customer to gain the extra profit

or maybe he just always remains unprofitable. You can argue it both ways.
Its a balance of course, but if you are overburdened with unprofitable, or barely profitable customers, why not ditch them and use your resources on more profitable ones. Its not a rare concept.

I don't think there's an actual rule.

To be fair, the firm concerned did promptly refund my card once I waited a few more days and finally managed to get hold of them on the phone to cancel.

Are they at the boat show? I'd be surprised if they were.

I bought a windlass off them about 12 months ago, it did take about a week to come through.

I suspect, in most cases they only place orders on their supplier when they get an order, helps cash flow and keeps their own stock levels to a minimum.

I ordered a Silva Compass from them earlier this year having spoken to them over the phone to confirm that I would have it within a couple of days. They said that it would come directly from Silva, and it did arrive within 2 days.

In this case, they were merely a money handling organisation, but I did get what I wanted, which was more than I expected.

Re: Great ******* news

My VHF has been delivered, the computer says so /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Of course it hasn't been delivered to my address /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Its like banging your head against a brick wall sometimes /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I know how Gludy felt now !
