I would like to re-align my engine/prop shaft (MD11C) and if need, replace the cutlass bearing. I have no time to do it myself; anyone knows of a good mechanic in the Southampton area?

Tom Parker, aka Tompa Marine, works out of the yard where we keep Ariam and regularly gets rave reviews on the Mobo forum.

His dad drives the travelift there, which might be handy if you're lifting the boat to do the job :). Or Tom is mobile if the boat's already up on sticks somewhere.

Only downside is he's often booked up well in advance, but he did slot in my mate's speedboat at short notice before he took it to Croatia for the summer.

Another recommendation for Tom and Kemps Quay for the lift out should you require it.
