Any recommendations on cheap but reliable handheld MARINE GPS units.

I have an old Garmin 12xl which I love. What would be the recent equivalent?

I have a couple of customers who dont want to pay a fortune as they will be used as secondary instruments, and for grab bags.

Garmin GPS72 is the current replacement for the GPS12. But it's 10 times easier to use than the GPS12 with much better menus, 500 wpts, 50 routes, 10 track logs, and clearer mono screen. No charts.

If they want hand held plotter than Garmin GpsMap60Cx or GpsMap76Cx which can have Bluecharts downloaded from CD via a PC.

OR if they want to spend more, but get what is probably the best small chart plotter on the market, the portable Garmin GpsMap 276C. It's 4" screen is so good and clear it is better than many 6-8" plotters. The biz and nothing else can touch it.

But as a backup GPS for long/lat and navigating waypoints and routes the GPS72 is excellent and costs <£100 if you shop around.

Excuse me Phil?.... Sun Coast is Clive young Dave. By the way Cagey question should be aimed at Tristram (he looks after it for his cousin the owner) not Phil.

I shall ask Tristram to contact you hes in the office Monday Clive
