I expect most of us are the same.

Suckers for boaty paintings in charity shops etc.

My poor wife has to suffer this.

As a matter of interest, apart from buying the one's you like, are there any tips to look for ? i.e. telling which ones are original , or any that may have a higher or lower value than anticipated.

Thanks in advance.

Hmm.. not worth so much as you might think. The AP's gentleman friend bought a couple by well a known artist about 25 years ago... they're not worth vastly more now. However... I rather think that there was little concern for profit in the original decision.

The oldest advice in the book; don't buy what you think will increase in value, just buy what you like. At least you'll enjoy looking at it.

If you see one of these, it might be worth a punt....

My Dad, before he died was a professional artist and I was lucky enough to get a water colour of what ever boat I owned on my birthday for many years..( also the odd motorcycle).

That was until one year he caught my wife mutter somthing along the lines of "not another bloody boat picture" Therefore my brother now has a particularly nice Solent racing scene hanging over his fireplace...:-(

Regards Nick
