Saw this "ingenuity" on a boat in the old Kyrenia Harbour North Cyprus.. Can only imagine what proper marine AC must cost out there so the owner of this boat decided to make a plan..

Given you can buy a 12,000 but unit on flea bay for sub £500 my only surprise is more people don't do it! Further you could install it in a few hours.

Totally agree, a pragmatic solution to a problem with a low value older boat, first saw this on a 60fter in Spain a few years ago, not pretty but effective.

On a big enough boat it could probably be made relatively neat in some kind of enclosure..
