So, 2 weeks off sailing Solent, Chichester and Poole and look at the weather!!

I've seen what happens in Cowes Yacht Haven when it's blowing a hooley and I guess Gunwharf will be little better. Which other marinas should be avoided?

East Cowes is nice and quiet and sheltered - Gosport is OK - the Hamble is sheltered above Hamble Point. Lots of places will be very full in Cowes week - starts Saturday week.

Town Quay in Southampton is fairly exposed.

East Cowes Marina is much more sheltered than CYH or Shepherds Wharf, though personally I'd go one step further and stooge up to the Folly.

Yarmouth can be a bit of a bugger when there's some serious north in the wind.

Not sure I'd fancy being rafted in anything that's caused you to flee from the Solent!
I'd want my own bit of pontoon.

Town Quay doesn't take visitors any more.

Port Solent is well out of it and with the weather has got the advantage of a cinema or two on site with a variety of restaurants.

If there's no East in the wind Bembridge is OK, but don't try getting in or out if it's strong Easterlies (inc NE and SE).

Island harbour (past the Folly) would be very sheltered and the new restaurant has opened there - it's a bit isolated otherwise.

Enjoy. Looks like the weather over the weekend will calm down a lot.

Does anyone actually stay at Gunwharf?

Go to their website and you will find the claim that they are busiest "Marina" in the Solent with most weekends already fully booked.

The night life is the main attraction.
