At the moment we are moored in a marina on Ischia and heading south down the Italian coast. Does anyone know any marinas which may be cheaper to leave the boat in for 2 weeks or so while We come back to Uk.I know its all expensive but somewhere must be better value than Ishcia (we are 15m and paying 110 euros a night ).So far it just seems to be getting more expensive does it ever cost less further south.

If you think Ischia is pricy now just wait until July/August!! we paid 120 euros there 3 years ago for 11metres.
Yes it does get much cheaper as you head south, especially on the boot, but your a long way off. we were in exactly the same position as you and had to leave the boat for a month. We ended up having to retrace our steps to get a decent price and ended up in the new Ostia (Rome) marina.

There is a new marina on the Neopolitan coast Marina di Stabia and has 1500 places so can be a good bet.

If not to your taste I suggest to go down South to Tropea if they have places or Vibo Marina at Carmelo. This last is a friendly guy and will find you a place for sure. You will be in about 30 mins run from Calabria airport.
If not you can try up north like Rome Ostia, Nettuno, or Gaeta. I think it also depends where your flight is coming from...

Thanks for those ideas but dont fancy heading backwards up the coast (have visited a few of the sugestions must say the guy at Gaeta marina was
very helpful)
Have managed to get a booking at Agropoli for 10 nights at 80 euros a night still expensive but heading the right way.
Any other ideas around sicily would be helpful.
Do you have any info on the transit berths all these marinas are meant to have and to best way of finding if they exist.
We are enjoying the Italian coast but the wallet isnt so happy.

I headed for Stabia in 2007 on the recommendation of someone here. It was only part completed, thus "offering a good deal". At €90 per night, (13m), I nearly fell of their office chair!! Did 2 nights to pick up SWMBO and see Pompeii, and we were off!!

Riposto on Sicily was the next place I was prepared to pay for a few nights, (and only as SWMBO was on board :) ), but even that wasnt cheap. I think the rate reduced to €60 per night on 1st September, so it must also have been about €90 per night in August.

We had a year in Ostia (Rome). Great for doing Rome (1 euro for an hours journey by bus and train....yr 2003/4) and we enjoyed the Roman remains in Ostia more than Pompii (Sp?) Very close to Piombino airport (although the taxi drivers take you the long way!) There was a good friendly livaboard community when we were there although we were 'come and goers'.
Try to get down B,C,D pontoons because there is quite a swell further up.
