Marinas in West France....any suggestions/phone nos?

just been working out the costs for Cornish Maid for this year, and decided that the sooner we move to W France the better. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So, does anyone know where there may be berths available in France, preferably the west coast, for next year?

Would love to get to La Crouesty, or Lorient or in particular La Roche Bernard, but suspect that they are all full. Is L'Aber Wrach full yet, although it might be a bit too far north. And possibly expensive?

Anyway, any info would be most welcome.
 
I know it's a bit further north than you're looking at, but both Audierne and Dournanez have escellent marinas.
Haven't got a number handy, but both are run by the Mairie so a google search should turn up the numbers.

BTW, when you say moving to France, do you mean the boat or everything?

i made contact with a few marina's in the lorient area and further south about a month ago. all full, I only managed to get my name on a waiting list for 2009/2010 season.
 
Much further North, Camaret which has been expanded. Two English guys, one of which I used to know, Jim Kelly were offering a package through the marina for berths in 2007. There was a small piece in YM with a telephone number but I can't remember the month. Even further North L'Aberwrach was expanding and may have completed the new berths and may have some available. For phone numbers most are in the Almanacs or use international directory enquiries.
 
I keep my boat at Port Rhu, Douarnenez. There are some vacant trot moorings for boats up to 10 metres and with an air draft of less than 16 metres. There might be some space for larger boats on moorings but all pontoon berths both at Port Rhu and Treboul are full (there's a waiting list). I think that Camaret, Morgat and Audierne are also full. Be prepared to speak in French!
 
Waiting lists everywhere now I'm afraid Becky. It's worth keeping an eye on Concarneau as there is talk of putting a marina in the inner harbour.

Thank you everyone for the information. I would particularly like to contact Jim Kelly, in Camaret, who has helped us out in the past, and we met him last summer as well.

If anybody has any clue to contacting him, I would find that very helpful. There is a piece in the last YM mag, but no contact details unfortunately.

We would like to move the boat to W France, while keeping my main address here in the UK. It would save channel crossings, and that long trek from St Peter Port to L'Aber Wrach and beyond.
 
You could always park for free at Port Launay downstream from Chateaulin while on waiting lists.
