Marinas in SW Brittany

I'm thinking of migrating my 25 footer from a Solent marina to one somewhere in SW Brittany. The first French marina I tried had a waiting list of 8 years. Does anyone know if this is par for the course down there? Or was I just unlucky?

Yachting mags have been too successful in saying how cheap France is, and where are some 40,000 new Bavs & Benes etc going. If you can find an annual berth - then it is reasonably cheap. However the only berths I have found are in inaccessable areas - up the Villaine at Redon - a beautiful river but 30 miles upstream, so no good if you want to be offshore. Anywhere else you will find you are paying monthly rates which in the summer will set you back somewhat.

We have decided to give it a miss and bring the boat back to Plymouth from Roche Bernard- or go further to Northern Spain - before that is ruined too!

We are 40 foot - so you might have better luck at 26ft

So someone who bought themselves a decent sized inland cruiser out there and got an annual mooring well up-river to use as a holiday home could get a fairly good deal? Hmmm.....
