Further to my previous post about finding a marina in the Med, have now arranged to spend 12-15 Nov driving along Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca from Sotogrande to Denia.

Can anyone recommend marinas on this stretch that are worth a look, particularly if you happen to know they have some 15m berths available. Any sensible (yeh, right) comments about this area - weather, cruising options etc? Will anyone be around at the time to meet up for a beer or three?

Finally, as the trip doubles as our first wedding anniversary, any recommendations for good restaurants along the route. I'm guessing we wont have much trouble finding places to stay out of season?

Can recommend a visit to Nerja. No marina but away from the concrete tourist jungle when we went there 4 years ago.
Nearest marinas to that are Caleta to the west and the next to the east is Marina del Est. I would not bother with that one as its at the bottom of a bloody great hill and you might not have a car every time you go.
Dont think I would bother with Thomas Mastro on the end of La Manga straight. Long way from nowhere in winter.
Personally speaking you cant wack Barcelona. Excellent coms to wherever and a great city. Need to get on the waiting list early although this year apparently 15m + was ok.

Hi Nick. I guess Sotogrande suggests you know Rob from the Sealine Office?

Anyway we are in Duquesa next along from Soto (about 8k).

If you've the time pop in to Duquesa, its a charming little Marina with lots of character, our students seem to like it too.

Not sure if they've got any 15m's available. Estepona is the next one along, run by the same organisation as Duquesa so the girls in our office will also know the score with Estepona.
If you fancy a beer call me on 0034 629 116777 regards Clive

p.s. Duq has much better selection of restaurants than Soto too

Hi there.
You should get into Torreveija ok at this time of the year. Large liveaboard contingent, & several bars & restauraunts, some quite good. as Mike says Tomas Maestro is a bit isolated & you will need a car to get about but in all not a bad marina. Had a drink there with Phil & his charming wife from White Lady last week. Then of course you can try San Pedro which is really very similar to
T.M. all the other marinas are a little on the small side for your boat north of Cartagena until you get up to Santa Polo which is not the nicest of places although there are some good restaurants in the town. I think i would plum for Torreveija in that area., very friendly, good facilitys. Everything within walking distance.
Would have gladly met you for a drink but not back in Spain untill 15/11
Good Luck...............Nat

Hi Nick,
I will be at Marina del Este 10th to 17th November. Give me a ring on 07779 250752 if you want to pop in. Think you could get 15m berth there. Oh, and by the way, we have a brand new road from top to bottom.
Regards,
David.
