Can anyone advise on a good marina in Sicily to leave the boat for a month next July/August.

We are in Ragusa at the moment and find it excellent.
The airport is 30 minutes away (5 euros by bus, 4o in a taxi but the marina does two pick ups or transfers for free).
Ryan air fly from Stanstead there/
The boats are very secure and even in the strongest winds there is almost no swell in the marina.
The staff are very friendly, speak perfect English and will do anything to help.

We are in Turkey and having spent the prev. 5 years in Greece would quite like a change on our way out of the Med. Nothing to do with boat tax.

In fairness Ragusa probably a bit of an exception in Italy in their level of charges (particularly for July/August which was the OPs query), and is not typical. Most boats could stay in Greece during these months, pay the proposed/future tax and still be pounds/euros better off. 40 to 200 euros a day plus electricity/water for a 12m boat is the norm in July and August in Italy. Many marinas will not accept bookings for whole months during this period because they rely on the inflated prices Italians from the mainland are prepared to pay during July/August. A significant number of Italian marinas, particularly in the islands (Sardinia/ Sicily) are full during this period turning people away.

You really do not want to be anywhere near an Italian marina during July or August unless you have serious amounts of cash you throw away or unlimited funding!
You'd be better off hauling out for that time and hiring a car; it would work out cheaper and you'll see more - without the stress of Italians who can't anchor.....
