Marinas in or near La Rochelle, France

Hello! We are new here, living aboard a 46 ft mono-hull in the Caribbean currently. We are wanting to make the ocean crossing and spend 6 months in La Rochelle, France or perhaps close by. Does anyone have information on cost and availability of a slip in the area? We would like to get this sorted out and paid for before we leave in the next 3 weeks or so

Very large marina (around 3000 berths) at LaRochelle called Les Minimes. Alternatives are the docks and pontoons in the town but not as secure. Problem you will have in summer is finding space as very busy.

Rochefort is cheaper than La Rochelle and less busy. It is quite a hike up a river though. About 20miles inland?http://www.portbooker.com/en/marina...rente-maritime/port-de-plaisance-de-rochefort

The problem we found at Les Minimes, apart from the berth shortage described by GrahamM376, is that every September they clear out all visitors to make space for a boat show. At this stage we went to Rochefort, which we enjoyed hugely.

Just a little further south is Royan, at the mouth of the Gironde. This is also an excellent marina that may have more space than their neighbours.

We were de-masted for the Canal du Midi there. They did it very well with a hydraulic arm arrangement, efficient and cheap. Nice place, as you say.
