Marina's in Docklands

Re: Marina\'s in Docklands

Tried them but nothing available, or they are saying so because of boat show in Jan and don't want exhibitors parking boats up there to avoid cost of show marina.

Is St Catherines near by or Limehouse, can't seem to locate them on my little London street map.

Re: Marina\'s in Docklands

I'm in Gallions and am surprised they don't have vacancies.

What did you ask for?

Its not the fanciest place be very easy to get in and out of (5 hours either side of HT locking) and good security.

Oh and reasonably priced IMHO.

Re: Marina\'s in Docklands

Steer very well clear of Gallions - it's like a run-down council estate on the water, worst place I've ever moored!

St Kats, on the other hand, takes a lot of beating...

Re: Marina\'s in Docklands

Clearly someone with money and nothing wrong with that.

What you all need to know is that there is a brand new marina going into the same dock as part of a new development.

So it seems that next year you can either pay less and go in the 'council estate' or pay more and park up opposite in the new marina.

Mind you a lot of my friends live in Council Estates.....Hmmm.

I have been completely satisfied with Gallions for the money. So there!!!

Equally I stayed for a month at St. Kaths and - well it was nice but worth the money? I'm not sure.

Re: Marina\'s in Docklands

True but thats also true of all marinas in Docklands/Tower area.

At least Gallions locking is 5 hours either side of HT.

They seem very full at the moment with only a few berths available less than 32ft so it can't be all bad eh?

Oh and it does help that I can see the boat from my flat which is rather nice.

The whole area is being regenerated with a new bridge going in and lots of development for 2012, oh and a new DLR station opening December 12.

The area is being renamed Royal Docks so I gather. Sounds rather nice don't you think!

See the picture on RODMA site http://www.rodma.co.uk/

Rather spoofy I think.

Re: Marina\'s in Docklands

Aha! Now, I did say 'run-down' coucil estate, and I hope that this little linguistic device conjured up a particular image. It was not intended to be a criticism of some of the better (and in cases, very good) council estates, nor of their residents. Hope that's helped!
