Hi,

Can anyone point me to a good marina / mooring where we can park a 13.4 meter boat for 3 months April to June anywhere on the coastline from Nth France to Southern Spain. Am looking for a cheap location with easy cheap plane / train access from UK. Any knowledge of indicative costs would be much appreciated.

Thanks - Tim.

marina sade in la coruna is amiable enough for this sort of thing. They speak spanish, bad english or good french. Santiago di compostela airport flies to stansted for between 20pee when you don't want to go, to about £150 on the day of departure.

It is Sada, which is situated about 20 kilometers east of La Coruna. Ryanair flies from Stansted to Santiago, about 70 kilometer south of Sada. Iberia flies from Heathrow to La Coruna. I know that the prices in Sada are probably low for british standards, but find them high for spanish standards. Sada marina has a website, so you can check on the prices. There are also marinas in La Coruna town. The old ones on the side of the Ria de Coruna are not too good, because the incoming and leaving fishingboats cause a lot of waves and it is known that yachts touch masts, causing damages. The marinas inside the old Darsena are probably better, but I don't know the prices. You can probably google to obtain more information.

i hope you will tell us what you find. I have no idea what so ever about priceing on the spanish atlantic coast

But i may need to know in the future not far off.

Please do update this thread when you have priceing and info,

It will be a forum service invaluable to some.

Trouville, where are you? A few weeks ago you were freezing in Sweden, then involved in girlfriend issues in Southern Italy, now asking about Northern Spain - are you a virtual sailor?? I think we should be told!

I have to go to La Coruña on the 3 March so will ask and get concrete infoI will if time allows go to Sada, all depends on wife and reliability of motor car!At present we have been under the onslaught of tremendous gales and snow and to day the arrival of a container with computers, all a bit damp!

Marans - up the Sevre-Niortaise. Great little town - they dragged me into their Veterans team which was a hoot (and allowed me to meet a lot of the locals including 6 dipsomaniac quacks).

Cost me the equivalent of £25/month for 10m in 2000/1.

la Rochelle is a 40' bus trip away, catch either the dread Ryanair or TGV. With a Carte Senior the latter was costing £54 return to Waterloo and I used to be able to break my trip and see friends in Paris.

N Spain is far more problematic, dearth of marinas all oversubscribed.

PM me if you want any more info.

Try Camaret. We left our boat on a mooring buoy just off the marina for around £60/mth in May/June last year. Flights to UK from Brest (Flybe i think) and ferry from Camaret to Brest. Very nice town and helpful people. Buoys run separately to the marina - i can give you a contact if you like.

You may find a problem getting space in a French Marina during the summer months but assuming you can, the charge for a 13.4 metre boat here in La Rochelle for April is 283.60 €uro per month May and June is 567.20 €euro per month. Unfortunatly month means literally that... so weekly it is 189.1 in summer and 94.55 in winter - April...

The airport is a 10€ taxi ride away - 15 minutes - and Ryan Air + Flybee are in and out daily for as little as €25 single including all taxes!!! €1 fare + €14 taxes... and if you belive that... but it is still cheap as hell!

We couldn't get into Marans two years ago after your earlier recommendation - the bridge failed and nobody could get in or out. Instead we went to Rochefort, cheap, secure and perfect communications, a short walk to the railway station.
