Claiming to have never screwed up seems like setting oneself up for a fall...

Pete

As in 'he who never made a mistake, never did any work'..:D
Oh my, the hi speed Snail and the A22 mullah went a bit vitriolic back there-bit of A shock coming back into the marina and free wifi and finding that spat in the middle of ordinary anal traffic:surprise::surprise::surprise::surprise:
Quite disturbing to a simple yottie.

While at university, I learned that the cleaners got what they called "dirty money" - £5 in cash if required to remove a turd from a shower.

I'll admit I was shocked that this ever happened at all, let alone was common enough to have a standard procedure.

I still can't fathom how the situation would arise. Yes, a selfish person having shat in the shower probably would leave it for the cleaners, but why would they have done it in the first place?

Pete

They should throw the bath turd out.

I'm glad no one has uploaded any photos of a filthy porcelain throne yet.....I'm sure there are some things people (even our well known forum photographer), won't photograph...!

I'm probably expecting the perpetrators to be too decent, but I wonder if embarassment about cleaning up is the key, and little wet room compartments containing both loo and ' over bath type ' shower - so the shower head could be used as a , erm, cleaner - might be the answer ?

Signs like ' please leave these facilities as you would wish to find them ' clearly have little effect, and let's not forget our country and ourselves are judged by overseas visitors on things like loos; an ex girlfriend refuses to visit St Malo or possibly all of France again after a harrowing incident involving a public loo !

If you are suggesting shower & loo in same compartment that is a definite NO NO !!
I think, from memory, it is eastbourne that has really posh showers but totally useless design
If some one uses the loo & the following person wants a shower then the follower has to shower whilst spending 10 - 15 minutes sniffing the innards of the previous occupier
Oban has a similar design but really scanky. On my uk trip this year oban gets best marks for worse facilities
2 years ago it was scarborough but i decided to give that place a miss this year

It amazes me how picky some people are

far too picky to be sailors IMO

Dylan,

Expecting people to clean up after themselves is not picky, it is simply good manners to leave a facility as you would like to find it. Whether that be in a sailing environment or any other environment is irrelevant. If people like to find a loo plastered in the result of the last persons visit then I am afraid I cannot help the poor devils.

Rob

Ps - if you are trolling then yes I fell for it.

it was the post about a shower and bog in the same room and the fear of going in there 15 minutes after another person has used it

clean up before and after you have used it

problem solved

as I said earlier... you are either part of the problem or part of the solution

The shower in "a certain place" in the Outer Hebrides, is actually in the Disabled toilet, and is effectively a Wet Room. It costs 50p, and gives more than enough time for two people to have consecutive showers. Can't be bad.

I agree - funnily enough at home and on the boat we have the shower and loo in the same room. When we used to keep our boat in the Mayflower in the 90s I loved the privacy and what seemed like luxury of a bathroom away from home. I found that they were usually a lot cleaner than either separate showers or loos, perhaps becuase they felt less public.

I must say I feel the opposite, I can find a berth and tie up ta very much, but after stumping up my extortionate fee I don't expect to have to clean bogs !

So you are the one that leaves them filthy after you have used them
Kind of goes with the perception of you that one gets reading your posts on this forum

And the smell?
Besides waiting 15 minutes means that someone else will go in before you & repeat the process

Consecutive? B-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-ring.

I see no call for that. There is a significant difference between leaving toilets clean and cleaning them on arrival.

That is down to inadequate ventilation - that can be just as much a problem in places with separate stalls.

I have just got back from a marina with nice (recently refurbished) all in one cubicles. There was a very efficient extractor fan above the shower cubicle which not only prevented condensation, it also ensured the place remained fresh too.

I think going into a clean facility encourages people to keep it clean - these were cleaned twice a day, early morning and afternoon.
