Marina recommendation north Adreatic?

Hi,
Looking for a cheap/nice/safe place to keep my boat from next year.
North Italy/Croatia/Slovenia? The norther the location the better...
Need to drive there from Munich.
German flag,VAT paid.
Not a liveaboard yet so boat can be on the hard during Winter.

Many choose to winter in one of the yards in Monfalcone, then cruise south for a summer in Croatia. More details in http://www.jimbsail.info/mediterranean/adriatic/slovenia-istria and related pages.

Further south, Pula has a choice of layup options.

Monfalcone is the place: cheapest marinas anywhere between Ancona and Dubrovnik, skilled help if you need it, 5 mins from station, 3 mins from motorway (to Munich: Tarvisio/Tauerntunnel/Salzburg/Munich: 4-5 hours), 10 mins from airport (daily flights to Munich). Any other questions?!
Try Hannibal or one of the marinas on the canal east of the town.

There are lots of Munich-based Germans that keep their yachts in my marina - Aprilia Marittima, which I can recommend for security and facilities. I have kept a boat there for 30 years with no problems.

There are three actual marinas within the complex, with varying levels of standard (all are good). The oldest, Darsena, is the cheapest, Capo Nord, slightly more luxurious but not so well placed for the facilities like markets, restaurants and services, then the really up-market one, Punta Gabbiani, more expensive than the others.

The downside to the entire complex is the need to navigate 5nm of lagoon channel before reaching the open sea at Lignano. However, it does ensure total protection from any wind direction. Others appreciate just anchoring within the lagoons and never going to sea - well, it takes all sorts.

As Metabarca suggests, Monfalcone. We were in Hannibal, for a couple of years. Good weather protection and a secure yard with all the usual services and about 20 mins from airport by car.
The fees at that time fairly high. We had a mooring and went on the hard for winter.
Worth a look.

Ok, but if you are based in Monfalcone:
1.) where do you go for a weekend sailing; swimming?
2.) Isn't it a long way down to Greece?

1) for the weekend, you can go to Grado or the Istrian coast (Piran, Poreč, Rovinj are well worth a visit, for the towns themselves and for the swimming; if you want an afternoon swim, anchor off the cliffs of Duino or anywhere along the coast towards Miramare castle.
2) obviously that depends on your boat, conditions and whether you want to do it non-stop or not. Plenty to see on the way, though!
