Marina or mooring in Algeciras/Gibraltar area to leave my yacht for a month or so while I fly back to UK for that time

Hi,
I remember posting on here last year, asking about places to leave my boat on the south coast of Portugal. I remember somebody mentioning a marina in Algeciras where there are usually a number of cruising live aboards staying. Also any information on temporary moorings in Gibraltar would be handy to know if they are not cost prohibitive for me having to bear the cost alone. My vessel is 36 feet or 11m LOA and planning to arrive mid June.

Sounds great and very convenient. However I think I may have to look for something less convenient, perhaps back in Portugal or further up towards Malaga.

Oh well, it was you that mentioned Gibraltar area!

Plenty of choice on the Spanish Atlantic coast between Ayamonte and Barbate or if you want Portugal, try Albufeira or Vila Real de Santo Antonio which are probably the cheapest.

High season Algarve, €1000+ for a month. Spanish Junta ones such as Ayamonte are cheaper but still expensive. You may be able to rent a temporary mooring from Ginasio Clube Naval de Faro which would be the cheapest option or, if you are due for a lift out, there are several yards along the Algarve, Bruce's (Nave Pegos) being the cheapest and most likely half the price of a marina.

I have been out of the water since mid October and just spent around £4K on yard fees and lifts, stripping back the hull BLWL and properly preparing, priming and antifouling. Navtex, new GPS antenna and dedicated log. Just now having the life raft serviced and replacing half the running rigging. Planning to head off at the end of the month. My Insurance covers me up to Long 7 degrees East. I have crew until the end of June. Then we all fly back and the crew go back to their lives and I need to settle my affairs here and return to the boat as a live aboard.

I do all my own maintenance and normally stay on a swinging mooring for £1500 a year. I can leave the boat anywhere that my insurance covers but I have to be careful with what I spend.
