Would welcome recommendation for East coast Scotland marina/yard. Planning two months afloat then winter ashore (26/27) before going through Caledonian canal and hanging out in western isles summer 27. 12m yacht. Thanks in anticipation.

Or make the canal trip the end of your season and overwinter at the new mini marina in Corpach (outside the canal so no BSS hoops).

Yes (pro dave) knew that but was hoping for recommendations based on recent been there done that experience. This summer is taken up with Norway next summer's plan is the canal and western isles. ylop, don't want to shorten time in Norway to do canal this year.

It's been years since I went through, but the canal took us two days - but we didn't do it as a holiday...

I'm based at Inverness marina, and have very positive thoughts about it. In water is super safe, the marina staff do a daily walk around and check every boat's OK, and will contact the owner if something's awry.
The marina is really well protected from winds, and TBH, I've never seen any wave action/swell.
The marina does do 1/2 season/winter berthing at reduced rates, but I'm unsure about winter berthing on the hard, as it does seem to be quite busy.
We all moan about the prices, but I reckon that it's a pittance compared to 'darn sarf', but don't tell anyone.
Is it essential to come out over the winter?
The marina is tied up with Caley marina, so tech stuff's available, and rigging etc..., all of the normal unattended winter tasks are available to be done.
A bit obvious I know, but they're good blokes to chat to, so it won't hurt to chat with them?
Best of luck.
