I live on the costa del sol and i am considering offering broadband to my local marina, then they can supply encrypted laptop pc wireless cards to owners if they wish to connect.

is it a runner? how much would you pay? let me know, your thoughts all?

interesting thought, but why does the marina need you? why doesnt it do it itself?

i am not sure pedro my local marina boss, would have an idea how to install and configure a wireless broadband router. Then he would have to be able to set up the encrytion, so that roger the english man cannot plug in his wireless network card and surf till his hearts content.
They would also need to be trained, to help thier customers install the pc cards themselves.

I have been in IT for 20 years, i can assure you, installing these things on the multitude of pc s out there is not a walk in the park.

by the way, pedro probably does not even know it exists.(wireless broadband) and i am sure the business in this has not entered his head.

Although, i am sure i could do your job with 24 hours training.

This is my post from the other board, I suppose you can ignore the last bit as you seem to know what you are talking about.

A number of uk marina's are setting this up at the moment and if it works as promised it should be quite a good service for about £25 a month.

Have a look here <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.squaremileinternational.com>http://www.squaremileinternational.com</A>

in theory setting up a wireless broadband network in a marina or in fact anywhere should be easy, however in practice it does not always work out that way unless you known what you are doing. If you do have a go good luck.

my business is computing, i own a computer shop and workshop, was just curious, when i was in spain last year in duquesa and soto grande the live aboards already had broad band installed, was quite jealous of them, they said the spaniards were more au fait than bt with braodband, can only speak as i find,
wish i only needed 24 hrs to have learned what i have learned about computers, you must be very clever
