Snap 23 ... singlehanding ...

Having devised a way to s/h my Snapdragon 23 and enjoyed many a happy jaunt Langstone to Ryde / Folly etc. etc. ... it was one time when leaving Ryde.
Set up as normal ... spring doubled back from cockpit to just ahead of midships on pontoon so that I can fall back and let bow swing out .... let go and away ... Boat is in a 25 - 30ft slot between two others ... so I do not have great amopunt of room for error ... but system works and no worry.

Along comes Mrs. Helpful .... I'll get that ... promptly throws of my spring and tries to push boat bodily out .... I jump forward to put line back on pontoon saying actually shouting - Its ok ... no thanks .... - she goes off with a few comments about ungrateful sods .... I'm back on board luckily having saved the manouevre and doing it the way I wanted .... BUT with a seriously bruised and swollen ankle where I struck the ankle against the bloody cleat !!!!

I thought about having a sign made up for my rigging ... No Thanks - lines I handle !!

I think the same boat was there last year. My friend had his self steering gear damaged. It seems best to tie the dinhgy to the stern of the boat when berthed at Tregier

Best I've done was on a Sunsail last summer. Mercury on the Hamble. Down tide, no appreciable wind. Must have gone in at 5-6 knots; enough anyway for the bow to rise appreciable as it hit the pontoon. Never seen anyone come out of the companionway so quick as the skipper next door. When he saw it was Sunsail he wasn't of course surprised. He did though raise an eyebrow when I pointed out it was our Day Skipper instructor at the helm.

I've nothing against Bavarias... I personally think they are amazing for the money.... and may well buy one over the next 5 years or so...
