Work begins on the Foryd Harbour

The first phase of the £1.4 million revamp of the Foryd Harbour, Rhyl, has begun.

The work, which is being carried out by Daniel Contractors Ltd of Colwyn Bay, will see a new road constructed from in front of the May Quay public house to the former timber yard, repairs to the timber yard quay wall, the creation of a secure boat storage area with wash down facilities, and a new cycle route link.

The news comes as the £3.8 million transformation of Rhyl’s promenade is expected to be completed shortly. Residents and visitors can now walk around the five themed gardens of the Drift Park, which until before Christmas had only been visible from above.

Cllr Rhiannon Hughes, Leader, and Cabinet Lead Member for Regeneration, said: “This work is an extremely important step forward, and together with the impending completion of the Drift Park project, is another positive stride in the ongoing regeneration of Rhyl.

“I’m sure that both the Drift Park and the Foryd Harbour will prove to be major attractions for visitors to the area for many years to come.”

A press release from DCC, hopefully it will help to regenerate Rhyl and also start to provide much needed extra berths in North Wales. I am a DCC councillor and have helped to push this innitiative.

funny story, at one of the beneteau regattas in pwlhelli, year before last i think it was, they had a professional raconteur/seadog to entertain us, any way an hour into the reception he starts his spiel, starts with the journey to wales and how he had to pass through rhyl on the way to pwllheli, what a wonderful place it used to be BUT etc etc and how it had gone to the dogs and THE council should do this and how the council should do that, i took it for a while and then did a big hhrmph! hmm and this terrible council, i just happen to be the deputy leader! is there any thing else you want to say, needless to say i got a bigger laugh than he did!
