Over here on the craggy west coast of Ireland we'd almost buy a house for what you good citizens of Blair-land pay for berthing your boats. Kilrush Marina in the Shannon estuary charges EURO 114 per metre for 12-month berthage. (Thats about £70). There I was thinking the sandwiches were expensive in Earls Court last January!

Well I hear that you will have to pay about £70 a night! in the Spanish marinas during the summer months, greedy buggers! what the hell happened to those lovely little spanish fishing villages and harbours of old?

A friend of mine has his forty footer raggie on pile moorings on The Hamble complete with his own private pontoon and pays £500 p.a (yes, per annum). Mind you he did have to be on the waiting list for 10 years but, at that price, it was worth it!!!! Another interesting point is that he can only pass it on to his son, not his daughter.

£27/meter on the broads. and I begrudge that. But nice people who own marina. so what the hell.

That would'nt be a house in Dublin, then, at an incredibly cheap £1m for a modest detached house

I've just received my berthing bill and it's jumped by over 12%, I thought inflation was at its' lowest for years.

Isn't the law of supply and demand wonderful.
