The hose at Mapledureham has been disconnected due to the amount of boats queing because they needed water.
You can still fill a container though.

I have never understood why - where appropriate - some locks with taps prohibit boats from filling up.
Mapledurham has excellent water pressure (I can pressure wash my dump through loo using the excellent hose provided), so it can't be that. Indeed when the IWA last had a rally at Beale Park a temporary bunkering facility was provided at the far end of the layby.
It's not always a problem of siting.
Perhaps the Thames is so posh that you have to have - excellent as they are - a big cabinet with a fire hose on a reel, so that boaters can use it to wash their boats (yes...)
There can be and is an awful long way between watering facilities and even more between places to remove the output of same...

On the canal system there are a lot of water points housed in an already tatty tin box - so you can see standards slipping if the inevitable (?) happens.
