Is there anyone out there? Who could explain the internal workings of this equipment please. I have managed to unbolt this from the foredeck and released the jammed lever action by removing the cylindrical brass gudgeon? pin from one of the two available positions across the casing. Slightly hazardous finger poking indicates there to be some sort of loosely swivelling cam within, but I am unable to proceed further without some idea of what should be happening - Lewmar nee Simson Lawrence don't seem to know either.
Grateful for any helpful advice.

In Calder's "Boatowners Mechanical and Electrical Manual" (the repository of all Knowledge) there is a diag of a S-L manual windlass - the one with the bike chain inside.

When mine jammed up this book was invaluable to figure out how to dismantle, repair and reassemble it.

I had one on my hillyard i forget the model(tiger?) but was thin and tall white that had a bike chain but never failed in all the years i used her, sometimes useing all my weight on the long leaver

I cant add more as i only have 1 hour more on line then thats it.But they are realy good windlasses today the world wants electric which for a livaboard on a buget(rationed power)is a mistake
