Starting to plan this winter's jobs (sigh)

One thing I'd like to do is fit a manual tap to the galley sink, to provide a backup to the electric pumped system. (I'm told it uses less water as well). Something like the Whale V pump.

SWMBO refuses to drink water from our tank unless it's been boiled. So it occurs to me that I could fit a filter (Jabsco Aqua filter or similar) in the pipe to the tap, allowing water from the tank to be used for drinking.

Has anyone any experience of filters? Is it worth doing?

Thanks

John

We installed a filter from these people last winter and we are very pleased with it. It has converted undrinkable tank water to drinkable. Only downside is that it can come through the tap a little bit slowly. Best if you have minimum of 20psi pressure.

I have a Jabsco filter that I used with a manual pump with no problems.

AFAIK, the activated charcoal filters won't slow the flow down noticeably, but don't do much for bugs in the water unless they have something else (Silver?). The ceramic ones will stop bugs, but also slow the flow down quite a bit.

We use a filter on the fresh system with no problems. If SWMBO is really worried about the water (and out here it is dodgy) we also run it through a filter before it goes into the tank.
