Hi all

I have a lofrans winlass that is siezed up. It has two drums one for warp and one for chain, both will move a little bit. But when using the lever to wind in the chain it won't move an inch.
Anybody taken one apart? Where can I find drawing of one? Any tips on freeing it up?

Many thanks

David

[/ QUOTE ]Locate your model here and then click on it, open the drawing (different formats available) and it should be self explanatory from there.

Be prepared to buy a new one.

My Lofrans Royal had also seized. No amount of work (wd40, 2 weeks soaked in diesel, blow torch, pullers etc) would get it apart. Having spoken to a number of yards, they said that if you can't take it apart in an hour, then give up......

Yeah, our Royale was seized, it took ages to get apart in the workshop, including high levels of heat and big hammers. In the end I had to cut some of the parts off the shaft. The small collection of replacement bushes and bits cost a fortune, and pressing the built-up parts back onto the shaft proved almost impossible. It works, but if it goes again it's for the tip.
I would suggest a new one and look after it.
