Thought I would ask the Forum's advise on Manual Bilge pumps!

Do you all carry one , if so what type/size?

At the moment all we have is the normal 12V float switch type in the engine bay, we also have an independent 'Micro Bilge pump system fitted' which is a 12V pump mounted on the engine bay bulkhead with a 6 foot roaming flexi tube on the input.

Our boat is a Cranchi 39 Endurance

Thanks for your help

Andy

Get one fitted, electrics are known to have gone down, also a large bucket or two, nothing shifts water quicker than a bucket and a frightened man.

I put a manual one on a piece of ply so I could move it around - about 3 metres of pipe either side. One side has got the no-return valve. I varnished up the ply, put little rubber feet on. Positioned pump so you stand either side of it on the board to keep it in place. Got buckets as well of course!

At present we keep the boat in the Jersey, but will be bringing it back at the end of March.

Our new home for the boat will be Deganwy Quay in North Wales; this is a new Marina that opens on the 1st April.

Thanks, a great idea with the Pump/Ply, I will rig one up this weekend.
