Mannanin\'s Cloak.........
Not a bad day on the rock until someone upset Mannanin (Manx folklore tells of an ancient version of Simon Cowel that roamed the Island), when he gets miffed or wants to shelter the Island from invaders he draws his cloak around the Island, which of course is all perfectly true and plausible juts like the fairy's at Fairy bridge
.
Seen it a few times but not as fast as it descended today, one minute all is well the next you can't see your hand in front of you. My balcony is only 150 metres from the cliff face of Onchan head and it just hung right up against the cliff and not an inch further, like a wall of dry ice.
Went to the shops and was really disorientating on the prom, with out sat nav or a compass you couldn't tell which way was which, I could have been driving backwards on the wrong side of the road for all I knew !.
In the middle of all this below there was a research ship anchored, the Super Seacat coming in, the Ben My Chree Ro Ro going out and the smaller sea cat changing berths and then a load of ickle boats all wondering which was was home, all tooting and blowing horns trying to figure out where everyone was.
There is supposed to be a bay in the middle of this, you are looking across to Douglas head of which you can just see the top of on the other side.
