I've just bought my first boat, a Ryds 435 which has manual trim and tilt. Given the importance of trim to get up on the plane, run efficiently etc, does anyone have any advice about how to set/manage the manual trim? As far as I can see it means stopping the boat, hauling the engine up/down to a new angle, then seeing how that works. Or, moving people/stuff around the boat to adjust the centre of gravity.
I've heard that it's possible to add a handle to the motor to make it easier to raise and lower.
I assume that people managed fine before the days of electric trim.
Any suggestions?
