Man overboard. How will YOUR SWMBO manage to recover you?

Good basic common sense grumpy.:encouragement::encouragement:

It is often very difficult getting the tender back on the bathing platform in a very moderate swell. I would not approach the stern of a Mobo (and some Sailing boats) in a swell.

Unless you are in a sheltered bay it is also very hazadous to use any ladder attached to the platform.

Remember most mob problems happen at sea not in a sheltered location.
Well, sort of, because the option is miraculously lifting someone a few metres up the side of the boat with just your long arms and biceps....suddenly that bathing platform looks more practical. However, I fully agree that bathing platform could be kicking like a bronco in a swell.
Best make sure that you always admired Swimbo's tennis coach.

Yes, I suppose you are right that on a mobo, returning to the casualty, or in my case fender is much easier than on a yacht..
I have retrieved people from the water off my bathing platform, and the main problem is the lifejacket that turns you on your back to stop you from drowning...
They can t climb back onboard... However you can drag them backwards, but you need two strong people, and thats only a bathing platform..
I have fallen off a yacht whilst racing down to Santander from Plymouth a long time ago...
I was wearing a safety harness and was washed out of the pulpit when a wave broke over the boat during a sail change..
The next wave deposited me on the deck again ontop of one of the spinnaker poles, cracking a rib and annoyingly filling one of my boots with water..
Top tip... Wear a Harness. I was very lucky. It was a dark night, in excess of Force 8, and I would not be here now if I had nt been wearing one....
