Two seasons ago (or was it last year?) we ran a MOB day based at Marconi SC on the Blackwater. Cruisers at the club have expressed an interest in doing this again and I wondered if it might be a joint event with the ECF.

On the assumption that we can find a date we all like - would anyone be interested?

Yes, we'd be interested it trying it again, on our own boat this time. Make it at the end of the season - September/October, say, so the water is relatively warm.

You never know I may find a crew one day or see a lonely mermaid in the water and have to rescue her.

If it is a nice day I'll be happy to offer to be the dummy - a role I frequently fulfill anyway!

A little unlikely in the average swatchway.....

More likely to look like this..

Here is the way to deal with Man Overboard.

Sept 18th

OK - provisionally I'm looking at Sept 18th for this...

In addition to the standard recovery from a moored boat I wonder if we could...

a) do something for single handers (following Karouise's comment) - ie how easy is it to get back aboard your own boat if you fall off and is there anything you can rig to assist - and does it work?

b) do a session for partners who often helm but aren't normally skippers - ie get them to recover you if you fall off (with an experienced person beside them to assist)

c) do something from moving boats - ie that involves getting the boat back to the MOB

Options will depend on numbers. We have great showers / changing facilities at Marconi so any volunteer MOBs will be suitably catered for. I'll get one (or more if nec) of our RIBs for safety / support / taking embarassing photos.

I suggest we follow it all by a bring-your-own meat bbq. I'll fire up the barbie and bring the coal (and open the bar) and everyone can cook their own roadkill.

Stay the night on a Marconi mooring or over the road in the Osea anchorage as conditions and preference suit and sail home on the Sunday.

What do you think?

Only up the river at Millbeach.
Count me in might be very intresting.
Remind us later in season, as i have a memory like a GOLDFISH.
(5 SECOND MEMORY) LOL..
