Man falls from ladder whilst working on his boat and dies at Gillingham Marina

How awful. Have come across a few of this type of incident where acquaintances have fallen from boats in cradles - either from ladders or working on deck - haven't heard of anyone dying before.

My boat is currently ashore in Chatham Marina boatyard. This morning when I arrived, another owner told me there had been an accident in the yard and an ambulance had called. It seems a man was working on his trawler type motor boat and was leaning against his wooden guard rail. The rail broke and he fell, landing on his feet but tumbled over hitting his head. This is all the information at the moment, hopefully will find out more tomorrow.

Today I found out what happened to the man who fell from the owner of the boat. As he fell backward he flipped and landed on his feet. Despite only weighing about 8 stone, he broke both ankles and is currently in hospital. He admitted to the owner he knew the wooden guard rail was damaged and it was all his own fault.
