I watched the Parade of Sail at Maldon last Saturday, with several thousand spectators lining the bank. More than a hundred yachts passed by, from a 200 year old Gaffer to modern racers. All of them came up the river under sail on a broad reach with the flood - it was a wonderful sight, with sails filling the river as far as the eye could see.
