Howdy all, I'm all very new to this power boating scene but I've done my research over many months to make sure this wasn't a flash in the pan itch that needed scratching!

Im looking at making the next step now and buying my first boat. Southampton and London shows are on my radar to weed out the contenders for what is the right choice.

I have done my homework regarding my RYA Powerboat L1 & L2 and being North Wales based this will most likely be done either at NAVSAR or SEAWAKE, plan to do this over the next few months. I figure training in choppy weather will be a true test.

So on to the boat, plan at the moment is to moor at Conwy or Deganwy Marina, use to primarily be family trips up the river and or out to sea/ coastal cruising, Puffin Island/Anglesey Bays etc. Long day trips further down the coast at a max, a young family might make overnighting at this stage slightly ambitious. That said I want to make the right purchase now to make the boat a long termer. I also have a taste for the odd turn of speed. Budget is around 50k, can stretch a bit further for the right boat.

I've been thinking somewhere in the 7 to 8M range, day cruiser style, Jeanneau 7.5 DC or WA, Quicksilver 755 etc. 200bhp +, I'm looking for seating for 7/8, seperate head facility, 2 berth for Young uns, sink/hob for brewing up etc. I'd ideally like a canopy option for cruising in inclement weather and sitting around the marina watching the world go by etc.

What's the consensus? Am I near the mark or completely off the mark? Any recommendations would be well received.

I've seen a few other boats which take my eye, AXOPAR 24, XO 240 but they seem to have omissions in some areas, no hob, no head or head located so all can see.

Sorry for the rant!

Cheers

Matt

Welcome, just bumping this as it can take a while for new posts to appear.
Are you looking for diesel or petrol? Inboard or outboard?

Thanks for the "bump" gordmac. I had no real preference to petrol or diesel, both fuels are available at the marinas I mentioned. Petrol probably edges it on sound, where as diesel maybe edges it on consumption? As for inboard or outboard, I guess outboard provides me with more space, but the engine cover for an inboard can be used as a sun deck. I'm open to suggestions!

Use Seawake for instruction, they are very good. Never heard of the other company. 50k will give you loads of options. I would recommend the Antares/Merry Fisher type. They will handle the chop easily and give you plenty of space.

My old Antares 8.80 is for sale at boats.co.uk.....two double beds, separate heads, saloon for four and went like stink.
