Hi/Hola:

Never Been - did a search for the last year or so got some info - thanks - any add'l would be appreciated

Looking for any recommendations, Experiences and/or Warnings on the island and Palma in particular for

Anchorages / Marina(s)
Surveyor(s)
Diesel Service/Surveyor
Broker
Marine Supplies
Hauling / Yard Storage
Other?

Alternatives for Anchorages/Marinas, Supplies & Hauling/Storage certainly welcomed too

Thanks in advance
P.S. Enjoyed reading your Forums from time to time but looks like might be some sailing oppts in the Med:cool:

If you are in Andraitx ask for Pedro. He and his team to everything well at a reasonable price.

In Andraitx the anchorage is mainly weed and dragging is common. Anchor near the fairway in a British flagged boat and the marine police will move you on. Anchor outside the breakwater and you will be woken and rolled big style by the fishing boats leaving harbour, (at about 5.30am).

The anchorages at Las Illetas are fabulous.

Puerto Colon has cheap mooring buoys and, whilst not the best place on the islands, I had a pleasant few days there in 2007.

Appreciated

Thanks for the info / insights.

n - thx - responded

Sounds like one might need a full array of country flags to survive local officials:D

Our yacht is based in Palma. We have been there for three years

If you want more useful advice, then a few more details about you and your plans would help

Feel free to PM me if you wish

We used Ian Cullingworth, an English surveyor based in Majorca, recently for a pre-purchase survey and found him to be very professional and helpful, really went to great lengths to check the boat out. Would recommend him. This is his website.

Up in the Air

TS - I left it general intentionally to avoid a jinx and also disclosure on a specific deal........but yesterday it blew up due to the Seller reneging on a verbally agreed deal before the $$$/contract were exchanged.

rtj - thanks for the referral & endorsement - I had found & briefly scanned his web site before but personal experience is invaluable.

Thanks to you both - I'm waiting to see if the deal comes back or I find another nearby.

Things do change.
In 2008 they moved the local moorings over from the west side and filled the old (bad) anchorage area. So now if you wish to anchor you do what you always could - and go into the harbour proper where you'll find a glorious muddy bottom.
Sure - is bound to be packed out.
And yes - you will still get rocked early hours as the fishing fleet exits.
But super holding.
